Product Description
From the original bamboo cutting board company, Totally Bamboo, this cutting board is a beautiful, functional, ecologically sound addition to any kitchen. Bamboo is 16% harder than maple, making it an excellent cutting surface. Bamboo is actually a grass that grows to a harvestable height of 60 feet in about 3 to 5 years, growing as much as 2 feet per day. It has an extensive root system that continually sends up new shoots, naturally replenishing itself. It does not require replanting, making it one of the most renewable resources known. Totally Bamboo uses ‘Moso’ timber bamboo which is neither a food source nor a habitat for the Giant Panda. Totally Bamboo’s cutting boards are assembled with approved food-grade glue — none of their products are made with formaldehyde-based glue. No dyes or stains are used in the manufacturing process. The pleasing designs are created by combining originally-colored bamboo with steamed bamboo, which darkens due to… More >>

It looks beautiful and I want to purchase it but there is no size anywhere.
I don’t want a small board – I want a fairly large one. Can anyone help?
I bought this cutting board last year. The more I used it, the more it began to smell bad. I had oiled it carefully before use and when the odor began, I tried bleaching it, sanding it, scraping it…nothing worked. I finally had to throw it out. It is a beautiful board and if you can figure out how to keep it clean, you may like it, but I am now using a wood fiber laminate board and I like it much better.
I just bought this and it’s really beautiful, which was a consideration when I was shopping for a good cutting board. Seems durable and well made. I plan to rub some light mineral oil on it, to bring out the color. It’s so good looking that I will leave it on my counter, leaned up against the wall.
Update: Oct 2009:
Had it a few months now, with frequent use. Still holding up GREAT. I oil it every now and then with light mineral oil from the drugstore (much less expensive than “cutting board oil” which is exactly the same thing) and it looks like new, aside from a few minor stains. Washes clean very easily. Can’t recommend it enough.
Great cutting board! The best I’ve ever owned. It doesn’t dull my knives like ones I have had in the past.
I am impressed with this cutting board!
I have worked in the restaurant business for over 20 years and I like to think I know my around a kitchen.
This board looks beautiful and has some “heft” to it. I use very sharp kitchen tools, knives, cleavers etc. This board show almost no marks on the surface.
This board cleans up nice and easy. If you are into cooking and are in need of a solid and good looking cutting board, you should look at this one.
I was torn between the thick and the thin cutting board, thick won.
I have never tried a Bamboo cutting board prior to this one, maple was good enough. NOT ANYMORE!
This board, as all cutting boards I owned, shifts a little, less than the thin cutting boards, so I use some “no slip” rug pad material. Works great.
I give this board an A+.
