Made of hardwood, the tray is a slim 7-1/2 inches wide and 1-1/2 inches high and fits within a drawer that is 16-3/4 inches deep. The 14 knife slots include space for eight steak knives or shorter knives with up to a 5-inch blade and six longer knives with up to a 10-inch blade or, alternately, a sharpening steel.
